Overview
This article provides guidance for submitting redirect requests for Next Generation Network (NGN), Medical Center Network (MCN), and Health Sciences Technology Services Charge (HS-TSC) charges associated with Veterans Affairs (VA) San Diego Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) agreements. These charges are not allowable on IPA awards and must be redirected to a discretionary fund source to prevent financial discrepancies.
Essential Information
- For all VA San Diego IPA awards, submission of NGN, MCN, and HS-TSC redirect requests is required.
- Redirect requests must be submitted as a secondary step after completing the Fund Change process when assigning effort to an IPA.
- IMPORTANT: Oracle automatically routes NGN, MCN, and HS-TSC charges to the Financial Unit Default account unless a redirect to a discretionary chart-string is requested.
- Submitting a redirect request is not an exemption. It designates an alternate, PI- or department-approved discretionary fund source for these charges.
- Failure to submit a redirect request may result in reconciliation issues and charges posting incorrectly to the Financial Unit Default.
