Overview
This article covers how to approve and push a Commitment on Task 7.3 Enter Commitment Details, which is the fourth step of processing a Commitment record in the Resource Commitment Tracking Tool (RCTT)

Critical Concepts
- The Approve and Push Commitment action formally liens the Destination side of the Commitment in the RCTT
- Pushing a Commitment generates the Transfer In Commitment record, which is viewable by the destination if they have access to the RCTT and is viewable by the source if the destination falls within their security rights
- You will not be able to Approve and Push a Commitment until all required fields have been completed
- The Approve and Push Commitment action does not initiate any workflow for the individual designated in the CT Approved By field - there is no approval workflow built into the RCTT
Steps to Take
- Go to EPBCS
- Login using Single Sign-On
- Navigate to Task 7.2 Enter Basic Commitment Data
- With Task 7.2 Enter Basic Commitment Data open, search for the relevant CTID using the Find button at the top of the screen
- Enter the CTID in the Find bar
- Click the right arrow until you navigate to the correct Base Commitment or Re-Class Commitment record

Note:
- From the POV, you may change the Financial Unit selection to the Financial Unit you are working on in order to narrow down the results in the form
- Likewise, if you are unable to find the CTID you are looking for, make sure your Financial Unit selection is broad enough
- You are able to select a single Financial Unit or a parent level member of the Financial Unit hierarchy
- Right-click on the relevant CTID to activate the Action Menu, and select one of the Details Time Horizon views: 1 Year, 3 Year, 5 Year, or 10 Year - your selection should be dependent on the length of the Commitment

- This selection will generate a new tab for Task 7.3 Enter Commitment Details, where you can enter additional information and take action on your Commitment
- Once all required fields are completed and you have reviewed your Commitment calculation, right-click on any grey cells within the first, left-most column to initiate the Action Menu, then select Approve and Push Commitment

- A window will appear indicating that the action is being processed and will display as successful once completed


- If you receive an error message, verify that your Destination Project belongs to the selected Destination Financial Unit

- Your Commitment record should now show three indicators that your Commitment was successfully approved:
- CT Pushed will display "Yes"
- CT Approved Date and CT Push Date Out will display the current date

Note:
- Best practice is to use Steps #1-9 above to Approve and Push a Commitment
- If your security rights allow you to view the destination side of the Commitment (i.e., if the destination is within your unit of the hierarchy or below), you can further verify the Commitment was pushed by looking for the Transfer In Commitment record under the same CTID on Task 7.2 Enter Basic Commitment Data
- When searching for the record, make sure you have an appropriate Financial Unit member selected in the POV, tied to the Destination Financial Unit
