How to Request Access to the Resource Commitment Allocation Module (RCAM) in UCSDPLAN

Overview

This article serves as a step-by-step guide on how to access and complete the form to request roles for the Resource Commitment Allocation Module (RCAM) in UCSDPLAN.

Prerequisites

Access to RCAM is distinct from general access to UCSDPLAN, though users must have access to UCSDPLAN before they can be provisioned access in RCAM. If UCSDPLAN access is needed, please refer to KB0035018: How to Request Access to UCSDPLAN for instructions on obtaining UCSDPLAN access. New RCAM Report Viewers and Transactors must also complete the appropriate pre-access e-course for their role in the UC Learning Center prior to requesting access to RCAM.

Essential Information

Next Steps

  1. Download the Resource Commitment Allocation Module (RCAM) Role Request Form.
  2. In the Submitted By field, enter the name of the person submitting the form - the preferred format is Last Name, First Name.
  3.  In the Requested For field, enter the name of the person for whom the role is being requested - the preferred format is Last Name, First Name.
  4.  Enter the current UCSDPLAN Financial Unit assignment for the person designated in the Requested For field - the preferred format is FU_#######.
  5.  Select the RCAM role being requested - Report Viewer or Transactor. Report Viewers will have access to view reports developed using the Resource Commitment Financial Activity Hub view. Transactors will have access to transact within the RCAM and report viewing access. Data within the RCAM and associated reports are restricted by UCSDPLAN Financial Unit assignment.
  6.  If Transactor access is being requested, designate the person who should be listed as the Approver for the transactor's records - the preferred format is Last Name, First Name. Note that there is no formal approval workflow built into RCAM, but every record requires an Approver to be selected.
  7. Verify that the person for whom the role is being requested has completed the appropriate e-course in UC Learning Center - there is an abbreviated pre-access course for Report Viewers and an expanded pre-access course for Transactors. If the person has not completed the appropriate pre-access e-course, they must complete prior to submitting the form.
  8. Check the box acknowledging appropriate use of RCAM and its data.
  9. Open a ticket in the Budget & Finance Services and Support Portal, with UCSDPLAN Resource Commitment Allocation Module (RCAM) selected in the 'More Specifically...' field.

  10. Attach the completed RCAM Role Request Form to the ticket and click Submit.
