General Terminology

7835 Trade St (Trade St)The off-campus hub for Receiving and Distribution operations servicing campus faculty and staff 
DistributionLogistics unit responsible for the delivery of packages, parcels, freight, furniture and equipment, and pickup of materials supporting OTS, for campus faculty and staff 
DriverLogistics personnel perform Distribution tasks 
ReceiversLogistics personnel that process inbound packages, typically delivered by carriers and local vendors
Tracking Number (TRK#) 

A unique alpha numeric combination assigned to each package delivered from carriers (i.e. UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.)

Status Updates

StatusDefinition
Cancelled due to Error An item has been cancelled due to an error. Typically applied to the incorrect scanning of barcodes, or incorrect assignment of a recipient.   
Corrected Delivery A delivery location update completed in-field by a Driver. Typically applied to items mis-addressed during the receiving process.  
Deferred  An item that was out for delivery but delivery was not attempted, nor completed.  
Delivered An item was delivered  
Delivery Attempted

The Driver attempted to deliver an item; but, could not complete the process through no fault of their own.  

Delivery Attempts Exhausted

Applied after two failed Delivery Attempted updates. Item is returned and placed in Research 

Held

An item has been held and is not out for delivery. 

Pending Pickup

An item is scheduled for pickup by the Distribution team.  

NOTE: OST (Outbound Shipping Team) has their own set of pickup related statuses 

Picked Up

A Pending Pickup item has been picked up by Distribution 

Pickup Attempted

A Pending Pickup item was not picked up; but, the Driver attempted retrieval 

Received 

An item was manually processed into the database by a Receiver 

Released to Carrier

An item was returned to sender through the carrier that delivered it to Central Receiving 

Released to Customer

The recipient or a designee retrieved the item from Central Receiving 

ResearchThe item is undeliverable and awaiting a status update for it to be Delivered. Research materials that are not claimed are Released to Carrier 
SortedAn item was processed into the database through our automated sortation system 
Staged for DeliveryAn item is loaded and expected to be Delivered by the end of the business day 
TransferredAn item has been moved internally from one campus service provider (i.e. Triton Print, the Bookstore, etc.) to another 
Wrong Address The Driver was informed the assigned building and/or room for an item is incorrect and requires follow-up with the Recipient

Label NoteA field used by Receivers to provide concise information regarding an item  
P/O NumberAn Oracle purchase order number assigned to an item  
Recipient NameThe name assigned to an item for delivery  
Room

The room assigned to an item for a delivery  

 
VendorThe vendor of a item processed for delivery. Only applicable to items with P/O Numbers applied
