Problem
Projected image appears to be cut off or cropped on display.
Cause
This is caused by:
- The computer resolution not being compatible with the resolution of the projector, and/or
- Projector settings
Solution
You can find your projector's resolution in the owner's manual or on the manufacturer's website. Projector resolution will usually listed under "Specifications" in the manual. Virtually all modern projectors handle 1920 x 1080 (1080p) resolution without difficulty, letterboxing or pillarboxing the image as necessary to preserve its native aspect ratio.
- Adjust the computer resolution to one that matches the resolution of the projector. When in doubt, try either the 1920 x 1080 or 1080p setting.
- On Windows:
- Right-click on Desktop background and select Display Settings.
- In the right column of the Settings dialog, scroll to Scale and layout .
- Select optimal resolution from Display Resolution menu.
- On Mac:
- Open System Preferences > Displays.
- On the Display tab, hold down Option key while selecting Scaled option to see different resolutions.
- Select optimal resolution from list. You can see previews of each when selecting.
- If this did not work, try restarting laptop while connected to projector.
- Press the AUTO or AUTO SETUP button on the projector or its remote, if available. Depending on configuration, the feature may re-scale the image for optimum display.
- Check projector aspect ratio settings; adjust if needed. The wrong setting may crop or distort the image.
