Replace a Kaltura Video

Overview

Kaltura allows users to replace the video source behind an entry. This allows you to preserve all of the original entry's metadata (title, description, tags, etc.). This can be particularly handy if you've embedded the video on a web page somewhere, since replacing the video will prevent you from having to re-embed it.

These instructions apply to all Kaltura users at UCSD with active directory credentials (instructors, students, staff, etc.).

Videos can be replaced in Canvas as well as in MediaSpace.

Your original video will still be viewable until the back-end processing of your replacement is complete. Remember that new machine captions aren't requested when you replace a Kaltura media entry, so you may need to consider whether your captions are still accurate.
