Overview
This article goes over how to access Reports, Visualizations, and Dashboards in the Agent View of ServiceNow.
Critical Concepts
- There are two concurrent ways of creating reports in ServiceNow. The method outlined here is by using the 'Platform Analytics Experience'. The method not outlined here is considered the 'Classic Method' and our documentation around it is in our manual under 'Classic Reporting in ServiceNow'.
- Although the title of this article is 'Navigating to Reports, Visualizations, and Dashboards', Reports and Visualizations are the same thing. We will be using 'visualizations' or 'saved visualizations' throughout this manual. If it is easier for you, replace them with the word 'reports'.
Steps to Take
Access Visualizations + Dashboards
- In Agent View, via the All menu, type in 'Platform Analytics'
- The items under the Platform Analytics header are 'Analytics Center' and 'Library'
- The 'Analytics Center' is meant to be the main stopping point for your reporting and dashboard needs. As you grow as a reporter, it will be your library to view your created and saved Dashboards and Visualizations.
- It is also the first step in creating new Dashboards and Visualizations.
- Please notice the 'Certified' tabs. The items under the 'Certified' tabs have been made by the ServiceNow administrators and are the best place to start for any Dashboard or Visualization creation.
- The items under 'Library' are the component parts of the 'Analytics Center'. As you become more advanced in your reporting, you may wish to go straight to the Dashboard library or the Visualization library, skipping the Analytics Center. We suggest you start with the Analytics Center until you grow more comfortable in your reporting.
Create a Navigation Favorite for Analytics Center
- In Agent View, via the All menu, type in 'Platform Analytics'
- Once there, click on the star next to 'Platform Analytics' to add it to your bookmarks. This will create a new bookmark folder with all the new analytics components saved.
- In order to access them, type in 'center' or 'dashboards' or 'visualizations' depending on where you want to navigate to, and the item will be listed at the top of your All or Favorites menu.
