General Questions

Can I download someone else's Kaltura media?

Only if they allow you to.

If you want to download a piece of media that you don't own, you have two options:

  1. The owner can add you as a co-editor, allowing you to download the video the same way you would if you owned it.
  2. The owner can make the video downloadable to viewers in channels or Media Galleries. (So you'd need to be able to view the video in one of those.)

Can I make a video downloadable that I've embedded in one of my Canvas modules?

Yes. You need to choose a player that allows users to download when embedding the video.

When you're choosing a video to embed on a page in Canvas, you have the option to configure that embed. One of the things you can configure is what kind of player you want to use. Check out our documentation on embedding videos in Canvas to learn more.

I want to download a bunch of videos. What's the easiest way to do that?

Email us at kaltura@ucsd.edu.

It's relatively easy to download your own videos. But if you want to download a bunch of them, it can get really tedious since you have to do it one by one, each download requiring several clicks back and forth between web pages. We can help by performing bulk actions on the back end.
