Overview
In order to launch online courses within the UC Learning Center, pop-up blockers must be turned off. This guide will walk you through disabling pop-up blockers in four supported browsers.
Critical Concepts
- In order to disable pop-up blockers you may need to know which version of your preferred web browser is currently running on your computer.
- This guide only includes browsers that currently support the UC Learning Center. We recommend that you update to the latest version of your preferred browser for best results.
Steps to Take
Select the browser that you are currently using:
Microsoft Edge (version 88.x and above)
- Click the Settings and More button and then click Settings.
- From the Settings page, click Cookies and Site Permissions on the left menu, followed by Pop-ups and Redirects on the right menu.
- Click the toggle bar next to the Block option to unselect it.
- Alternatively, you may wish to set your browser to only allow pop-ups from the UC Learning Center. On the Pop-up Blocker and Redirects page, click “Add” on the Allow menu.
- Type in the URL of the site you wish to allow pop-ups from and click Add. By adding the UC Learning Center (https://uc.sumtotal.host) to the list of allowed websites, your browser will allow any pop-ups from the UC Learning Center while it continues to block pop-ups from other sites.
Mozilla Firefox (version 88.x and above)
- Click the Menu button and select settings.
- Click the Privacy & Security panel.
- Under the Permissions section, uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows to disable the pop-up blocker altogether.
- If you wish to only allow pop-ups from UC Learning Center, not from every site, click Exceptions to open a dialog box with a list of exempt sites. Type in the URL of the site you wish to allow pop-ups from and click Allow and then Save Changes. By adding the UC Learning Center (https://uc.sumtotal.host) to the list of allowed websites, your browser will allow any pop-ups from the UC Learning Center while it continues to block pop-ups from other sites.
