General Questions

Where can I find students' responses to quiz questions?

In the video analytics. Check out the knowledge base article See In-Video Quiz Responses.

I'm reusing a quiz from a previous term. In the analytics, I see students' responses from previous terms. Can I filter these out?

No. You should create a new copy of the quiz if you want to isolate students' responses from term to term.

If you publish or embed an in-video quiz into multiple courses, you see ALL the students' responses in the analytics (from any courses). At present, Kaltura doesn't differentiate who responded by class, date, or whatnot. One problem we've run into is if a student retakes your course and you've limited the number of chances they have (either in Canvas or in the quiz settings).

Accordingly, if you want to isolate students' responses by term, you should duplicate the quiz. Doing so is the same as copying any Kaltura entry: Duplicate a Kaltura Entry.

I have a bunch of in-video quizzes I want to reuse, but I don't want to see the previous students' scores in the analytics. What should I do?

Contact kaltura@ucsd.edu. We can either help you duplicate quiz responses in bulk, or duplicate quizzes in bulk. We recommend the latter since we generally recommend against deleting students' responses in case of a grade grievance.

Video Quizzes Integrated with the Canvas Gradebook

What's an "integrated" video quiz?

It's basically a special type of Canvas assignment that ties a Kaltura video quiz to the Canvas gradebook.

You can learn how to set one up in our knowledge base article Integrate a Kaltura In-Video Quiz with the Canvas Gradebook. They will only auto-score multiple choice and true/false questions, and the points you set for the quiz are evenly distributed among all auto-graded questions. (That is, you can't set specific point amounts for individual questions.)
