Editing Dashboards

How to edit and manage dashboards in the Agent view of ServiceNow.

Critical Concepts

In order for you to add content to a dashboard, you need to be the owner. You can check to see if you are the owner of a dashboard by checking if the following icon is available in the header bar of the dashboard:

Steps to Take

  1. Open the report that you want to add to your dashboard by going to Reports > View / Run or Reports > Create New

Go into the app navigator, search "Reports" and click "Create New"

  2. Once you have the report saved in the format you want to display it, click on the "Sharing"

  3. Click on "Add to Dashboard"

Once you click the share button, you'll see a dropdown with "Add to dashboard"

  4. Select the dashboard you want to add the report to. If you'd like to add it to a particular tab, you will be able to select one at this time as well:

Once you click "Add to dashboard" you'll be taken to a page where you can do so

  5. You may need to rearrange the reports on your dashboard. Go back to the dashboard by selecting Work > Dashboards in the application navigator. Click on the Add Widgets button in the title bar to enter edit mode, where you can resize and reposition your widgets.

If you would like to to add Interactive Filters to your dashboard, navigate to 'Add Widgets' select 'Interactive Filters' and the appropriate filter type. Most of the filters are going to be 'Reference' for drop down menus and 'Date' for date filters. If you plan on making reports available with interactive filters, it is best to keep them as broad as possible. Likewise, only the ServiceNow team is able to create interactive filters, so if you'd like to see one that isn't available, please reach out to us.
