KNIT is a digital commons that enables UC San Diego students, faculty, and staff to build WordPress websites, create discussion groups, and network with other campus members for research, teaching, and learning. Use KNIT for digital humanities projects, open educational resources, public scholarship, course blogging, and academic websites. Note that Canvas (canvas.ucsd.edu) is the preferred location for online course content. Find more information at knit.ucsd.edu.
Note: As of Fall 2024, IT Services now supports a new UC San Diego WordPress resource, Simple Sites: https://sites.ucsd.edu/is-ucsd-sites-right-for-you/. From their site: “Simple Sites is a free, user-friendly way to create and edit a basic website or blog using a secure, self-service web-based Content Management System (CMS). Simple Sites is built on CampusPress, a hosted version of the popular and widely-used WordPress CMS. It’s secure, easy-to-use, and scalable to accommodate many campus websites.”
