Reset your Student Account Password


Overview


Students can go to password.ucsd.edu to change or reset their Active Directory (AD) password. Your AD account (sometimes called your TritonLink account) is used for email, TritonLink, Canvas, computer labs, Wi-Fi, and more. 

Follow the steps below to reset your student AD password.

Passwords must meet all of the following criteria:

Steps to Take


  1. Navigate to password.ucsd.edu 
  2. Enter your UC San Diego username.
    • Your UCSD username is the first part of your UCSD email address. For example, if your UCSD email is jdoe@ucsd.edu, your username is jdoe. 
    • If you do not know your username, you can look it up using the Account Lookup Tool
  3. Use one of the password reset options:
    • “I know my current AD password and would like to change it.” - use the first option to reset your password using your current working password.
    • “I am a student and I forgot my password.” - you can send yourself a reset link to your personal email

  4. Follow the options below based on the option you pick

  1. Log into SSO using your current password 
  2. Authenticate using Duo
  3. Reset your password using the instructions on the page

I am a student and I forgot my password

  1. Authenticate using Duo
  2. Confirm your personal email address. Confirming your email address will send a reset link to your personal email on record in myTritonlink.

  3.  Go to your email (as listed on the confirmation page in step 2) and find the email called "Password Reset"

  4.  Press the reset link to get to the password reset page.

  5. Reset your password using the instructions on the page.

  6. Pressing "Change password" will take you to a confirmation change. Press "Finish Password Setup" and you're done!
