Setting up Outlook for Exchange on iOS/iPadOS

Follow these steps to set up iPhone iOS / iPadOS to access your UC San Diego Exchange email account.

If you access your email via Gmail, we recommend using the Gmail App. 

Before you begin, you need:

Steps to Take


  1. Go to the home screen on your iOS device.

  2. Use one finger to swipe down from the middle of the screen to the button of your screen (or from left to right in later models). 
    1. Locate the search bar at the top of your screen. 
    2. Type in App for App Store.
    3. Click the blue icon named app store.

  3. In the app, select Search on the bottom right.

  4. Type Outlook.
    1. Locate Microsoft Outlook.
    2. Click the cloud icon next to it, or the GET button.

  5. Open Outlook.
    1. Outlook might try to find any existing accounts on your device. If you get the welcome screen instead, press on Add Account and skip to step 6.
    2. If it does find some accounts, they are most likely personal accounts.
    3. Select the Skip button.
    4. After you select Skip, you will be asked to enter an email address.

  6. Enter your UC San Diego Email address Select Add Account.

  7. You will be redirected to a UC San Diego login page.
    1. Enter your UC San Diego email address and password again.

  8. You will be prompted for your Two-step Login
    1. Approve your Duo Push notification.
  9. Select Maybe Later for Adding Another Account. 
  10. You will have the options to enable notifications if you'd like.
