Setting up Outlook for Exchange on iOS/iPadOS

Follow these steps to set up iPhone iOS / iPadOS to access your UC San Diego Exchange email account.

Before you begin, you need:

Steps to Take


  1. Go to the home screen on your iOS device by selecting the Home button.

  2. Use one finger to swipe down from the middle of the screen to the button of your screen (or from left to right in later models). 
    1. Locate the search bar at the top of your screen. 
    2. Type in App for App Store.
    3. Click the blue icon named app store.

  3. In the app, select Search.

  4. Type Outlook.
    1. Locate Microsoft Outlook.
    2. Make sure it is a blue icon with an “O” inside, like the picture below. 
    3. Click the cloud icon next to it, or the GET button.

  5. Open Outlook.
    1. Outlook will try to find any existing accounts on your device.
    2. If it does find some accounts, they are most likely personal accounts.
    3. Select the Skip button.
    4. After you select Skip, you will be asked to enter an email address.

  6. Enter your UC San Diego Email address Select Add Account.

  7. You will be redirected to a UC San Diego login page.
    1. Enter your UC San Diego email address and password again.

  8. You will be prompted for your Two-step Login
    1. Approve your Duo Push notification.

    2. Select Maybe Later for Adding Another Account.
    3. Select Turn On for Enable Notifications.

  9. Select Allow for “Outlook” Would like to Send You Notifications.

  10. Setup Complete
