Overview
Alternative hosts and co-hosts help the host streamline a meeting.
They can:
- Start the meeting
- Manage breakout rooms as supporting roles
- Become the host in the case the original host must leave or disconnects
The following article will outline how to add users as a cohost or alternative host.
Critical Concepts
- Learn about Zoom's different roles and privileges in a meeting.
- Learn about co-host controls in a Meeting.
- You may not be able to add an alternative hosts if they are on the UC Health version of Zoom or are using a Basic account outside of UCSD. In this case, please refer to steps on how to assign a co-host during your meeting (below).
- If you are unable to add a user as an alternative host even though they are using UCSD's Zoom license, contact the ITS Service Desk. This is most likely an account issue with the user you are adding, not your Zoom client.
Steps to Take

- On the scheduler window, scroll to the "Advanced Options"

- In the advanced options field, there is a text button at the bottom to add an alternative host to your meeting
