Overview

If - and only if - a media owner has enabled downloads for a video in a Media Gallery, any other member of the course can download it. Here's how to find the download link(s).

These instructions largely apply to Canvas students.

Critical Concepts

• Downloads are not enabled by default. The media owner must have explicitly enabled downloads for that entry.
• The intellectual content belongs to the media owner (though it may depend on the video). The bottom line: don't distribute the video without permission.

Steps to Take

The main challenge in downloading a video from the Media Gallery is finding the download link. 

1. Within Canvas, enter the course in question.
2. Click Media Gallery in the course navigation on the left.
3. Find the video you want to download and click on it.
4. Below the video, click the Download tab. (If it's not visible, the media owner has not enabled downloads.)
5. Identify the quality level that you'd like to download and click the download icon in its row.
