How to Create and Share Dashboards


Overview


You can create your own dashboard and customize the design layout and visualizations that are in it in the Platform Analytics Experience for agents in ServiceNow.

Steps to Take


Create a Dashboard

  1. In Agent View, via the All menu, type in 'Platform Analytics', and select "Analytics Center".
  2. On the main Analytics Center page, click on "Create new dashboard" in the Dashboards section

  3. In the popup, select "In-line editor" and input a name for the new dashboard. The "Technical editor" is for more advanced scripting capabilities and is not needed for most use cases. Click on "Create new dashboard".

  4. In the editing page, click on "Add new element" at the top right and select the element you want to add. This can be a data visualization, text, image, filter, or simple list. 
  5. In the popup, you will be prompted to either create a new data visualization or use an existing one. To use visualizations that you or others have already created, select "Saved visualizations" to reuse them.
  6. Search for the visualization that you want in the library and select them. You can select multiple at a time. Click "Add to Dashboard" when you are done.

  7. Afterwards, you will see your selected elements appear in the editing canvas. You can move them around and resize them by dragging the bottom corners:

  8. Here you can still make changes to the visualizations like you would in a regular visualization creation. If you save after making changes, it will ask you whether you want the changes to be reflected in the library (alter the original visualization) or keep the changes only to this dashboard.
  9. When you are done with creating the dashboard, click on "Exit editing mode" to see how the dashboard would actually look like. Here you can also bookmark it so it appears in the main Analytics Center page.

Share a Dashboard

  1. Find and click on any dashboard that you want to share.
  2. Click on the "⋮" button in the top right and select "Share".

  3. In the popup, search and add users/groups/roles that you want to share with. Then, click on "Add as viewer" or "Add as editor" to configure their permissions. Click on "Confirm" when you have selected the users to give access to.
