ServiceNow for Campus (support.ucsd.edu) supports user language preferences outside of English. It also has the ability to use Azure Translation Services to translate text to the user's preferred language. The only supported languages are currently English and Spanish, but we are happy to grow the list as want and needs grow.
Please note that the application will automatically translate most fields (such as "Status") but certain fields that administrators have changed or created will not translate. It is also important to note that items such as Knowledge Base articles will not translate automatically via this feature. It is best practices for Knowledge Base administrators to re-create an article in an additional language manually, or at least parsing it through a native speaker to ensure it meets expectations and intentions.
Any customer is able to change their preferred language by going to the portal at support.ucsd.edu and selecting their profile in the top right.
From there, they can scroll to the bottom of their profile and choose their language.
Upon hitting 'Refresh to see changes', the screen we refresh and most fields will translate.
Agents have the same ability to adjust their language preferences. If they've previously set their preferences as a customer, those preferences will carry over to Agent View.
If the Agent hasn't set a preference as a customer, they should go to their profile in the top right, and select 'Preferences'. From there, scroll down to 'Region and Language' and select their language preference. There won't be a 'Save' button; closing the window via the small 'x' in the top right corner will refresh the page to the selected language.
There is an additional setting in Agent View that allows agents to translate entered text to their preferred language. This translation button shows up as a square button with 'A / 大' in it, sometimes followed with 'Translate'. Clicking this button will translate the language of the comment or description.
