This article discusses the different retirement tiers.

Critical Concepts

Primary Retirement benefits depend on when you were hired in regards to the tier you are assigned:

• On or after July 1, 2016 – Retirement Choice Program
• Between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2016 – UC Retirement Plan - UCRP 2013 Tier
• Before July 1,2013 – UC Retirement Plan – UCRP 1976 Tier

You must be at least 50 years old and have a minimum of five years of UCRP service credit to be eligible for retirement.
