Grad students may only be listed as Key Personnel on a proposal application if:

• The proposal is an NSF doctoral dissertation.
• Or administrative supplements exclusively for student support.

These are the only situations where the grad student may be listed as co-PI or Key Person, and it will specifically state so in the solicitation.

In all other situations, graduate students are considered trainees and are not considered Key Personnel. Students should be listed on the Graduate Student line of the proposal application budget (i.e., Line B2 for NIH, Line B3 for NSF, etc.).

In either case, students should NOT be listed in Kuali at all.
