After you enroll in Direct Deposit and add your banking information, your account may display a "Pending" status. This is a standard system label and typically does not prevent you from receiving funds.
Yes. Despite the "Pending" label, your account is active and available for refunds immediately, provided your banking details are accurate.
The system does not "pre-note" or verify your bank details with your financial institution in real-time. To ensure your refund is not delayed or sent to the wrong account:
If a refund is sent to an incorrect account number, the bank will reject it. It can take 5–7 business days for the funds to return to UC San Diego before we can re-issue the payment to your corrected account.
