Sending 529 Plan Payments to UC San Diego (If Your Provider Is Not Listed on TritonPay)


Overview


There are two ways to pay your student account balance using a 529 Savings Plan: electronically or by mail.  If your 529 College Savings Plan is not available on TritonPay, please choose one of the two available options below.

 

Steps to Take


Option 1: Electronic Payment (Ascensus/Flywire)

UC San Diego partners with Flywire and Ascensus to accept electronic 529 payments.

  1. Log in to your 529 plan's online portal.
  2. Check if your provider offers an option to send electronic payments via Ascensus.
  3. If available, follow your provider's prompts to send the funds to UC San Diego.

Note on Processing: Once the funds are received, the UC San Diego Central Cashier's team will manually apply the payment to your account. Please allow 3–5 business days for the payment to appear in TritonPay.

 

Option 2: Paper Check

If your 529 plan does not support electronic transfers, you will need to request that your provider mail a physical check.
