Overview
The below article goes over how to access your TSS account as a Division of Extended Studies (DES) student.
Critical Concepts
- If you are a main campus student taking a course with DES, you will access TSS the same way you do for your main campus courses.
Continuing Students
All continuing students should've received an email asking you to create your password for TSS. Please check for an email called "UC San Diego Extended Studies: Action needed to access your student/alumni portal." This email will have shared your username as well as a link to set up your password.
If you've already set your password or could not find the email:
- Go to sis.ucsd.edu
- Click "Sign in with Alumni and Extended Studies."

Note: Even if you are a UC San Diego Employee, you will need to use the Extended Studies option, NOT UCSD SSO.
- In the next page click "Guest Log In." DO NOT use the Google/LinkedIn/Microsoft options.

- Log in through the sign in page. If you do not know your password or did not set it via the link in your email, click "Forgot password" to set your password again.

Problem: Stuck in a Sign In Loop
Some Extended Studies students are reporting that when logging in via "Guest Log in," they are not getting the sign in option, but rather stuck in a loop that asks for their identity information. Instead of the sign in page, the student will see a page with two options, "Login with UCSD ID" or "Don't know my UCSD login Info."

This is due to having clicked one of the Google/LinkedIn/Microsoft options previously. Even if you click the "Back" button on your browser, your browser will remember your log in and send you into a loop because your account was already created by the university. To fix this:
- Close out all your browser sessions.
- In an incognito/private browser, try the instructions for logging in one more time, taking special care to click the "Guest log in" option and NOT any of the Google/LinkedIn/Microsoft options. For instructions on how to open an incognito/private browser see: How to Open Incognito/Private Window
- If this does not work, click "Don't know my UCSD login Info." You will be taken to a page prompting you to fill out your name, "Date of Birth", your TSN or SSN, and "College/Division".
- For the "Date of Birth", you may need to use a date of 01/01/1900.
- For the TSN and SSN field, use your TSN and not your SSN.
- For "College/Division", select Division of Extended Studies.
- A green dialogue box will appear at the top of the page. In the third paragraph, click on the link titled Click here to set up your new account.

Your account will now be re-linked to your social login account, and your account is ready for TSS and Extended Studies use. On the next page, you will be sent to a page which includes several hyperlinks directing you to several Extended Studies and TSS applications which you may find useful.

New Extended Studies Students
New Extended Studies students must go through the Shopping Cart to purchase a course before accessing TSS.
- Please purchase your course through the Shopping Cart.
- Once you're ready to check out, you'll be prompted to create an Account through Shopping Cart.
- After you've created your account, you'll be able to finish your payment and purchase your course.
- After purchasing your course, you'll be given a TSN and a link to Claim Your Account. You'll also be emailed this information. Please input your personal information to complete the Account Claim Process.
- Following your account claim, you'll be asked to pick a method to log in. Use Google, LinkedIn, or Microsoft to log in. If you do not have any of those 3 methods, please call the ITS Service Desk at 858-246-4357 for assistance. Please do not pick "UCSD Guest Login" or "UCSD Student AD Authentication."

- Once you connect your account to Google, LinkedIn, or Microsoft, you should be able to access TSS. Use the same method to log in every time.
- You can log into TSS through sis.ucsd.edu and picking the "Sign in with Alumni and Extended Studies" option.
Concurrent Enrollment students
Concurrent Enrollment students will be given UCSD credentials to log into TSS. You should receive an email from your program with a link to claim your account.
- Go through the Account Claim tool to claim your account.
- Once you have claimed your account, you will need to reset the password for the account through the Password Change Tool.
- Once you have set a password, you will need to enroll in Duo. Log into the Duo Device Management Portal and add a device.
- At this point, you should be ready to log into TSS. Navigate to the TSS website to log in, making sure to select the option for "Sign in with UCSD SSO".

- Once you are able to sign in, you should be able to access the new TSS system! If you are taking Main Campus Courses, you will need to navigate to Main Campus Canvas to view your course materials. If you are taking Extended Studies Courses, you will need to navigate to Extended Studies Canvas to view your course material.
