Overview
UCSD staff and faculty members who have the old, legacy ID card are able to upgrade to the new One Card. Additionally, campus affiliates who have the old, legacy ID can also upgrade to the new One Card.
Critical Concepts - Employees
- There is no charge to the employee, nor to the department, to upgrade to the new One Card.
- An employee must have the old, legacy ID card in order to upgrade to the new One Card.
- The old, legacy ID card is the ID card with the Geisel Library in the background. An image of the legacy ID card can be found on our website.
- Employees can only upgrade to the One Card one time. If an employee loses their One Card, they must request a new ID card via the normal process and procedure. For more information about the normal replacement process, please see our How to Request an Employee ID Card
- The One Card does not include an employee's department, nor their employee number, for security and confidentiality purposes.
Steps to Take - Employees
- Submit an ID Card Request form via ID Card Request Form
- Once the request form is approved you will receive a link to our online scheduling system.
Critical Concepts - Affiliates
- There is a $25 charge for an affiliate to upgrade to the new One Card. Either the department, or the individual affiliate, must be responsible for this charge.
- An affiliate must have the old, legacy ID card in order to upgrade to the new One Card.
- The old, legacy ID card is the ID card with the Geisel Library in the background. An image of the legacy ID card can be found on our website.

- Submit an upgrade request by completing our online Services and Support Affiliate One Card Upgrade form.
- Await additional information and instructions from the Campus Cards Office for obtaining the new One Card.
