What international payment options does UCSD offer?

Overview

SFS provides three international payment options that can be accessed through TritonPay:

Students and payers are encouraged to compare rates for the best option.

UC San Diego does not disclose direct bank wire transfer account information. Students will need to initiate transfer using one of the three approved international payment providers available on TritonPay (TransferMate, Flywire, or Convera). This ensures your payment is easily identified and applied to your student account in a timely manner.

When you book your payment in TritonPay, the payment will reflect as “pending”.  You will need to follow the payment instructions you receive from the international payment provider you selected.  Your payment will move from “pending” to “complete” on TritonPay and be posted to your student account once funds are received by UC San Diego.  Please keep in mind that international payments can take 5-7 business days to reach UC San Diego.

More information about international payment options is located here.  You may also find the short video tutorial on making international payments in TritonPay helpful.

How to Initiate an International Payment

To initiate an international payment, you will first need to log into TritonPay by visiting tritonpay.ucsd.edu. After you’ve logged into the TritonPay payment portal, go to “Make a Payment”. Once you select how much you would like to pay, you will see several payment methods. Select “International Payment” as your payment method and select the country you will be paying from.

You have three international payment options to choose from:

TransferMate: The international payment rates will be listed for you, based on the country you selected. These rates are determined by Transfermate, the company that will be processing your transfer request. To make a payment using this method, fill out the required information and review to confirm that the information is correct. Finally, you will be given a receipt and instructions on how to complete the wire with your bank.  If you have questions about these rates, or need help completing the payment, live chat with Transact international payment support is available in TritonPay under the “Help” tab.

Flywire:

Convera:

Both Convera and Flywire are approved UC San Diego international payment options. When using Convera or Flywire you will first initiate payment from TritonPay and then will be redirected to their respective websites to start the transfer request. You will be given several bank wire options to choose from. Once you select a bank and fill out your information, you will be given instructions on how to complete the bank wire.

Please note international payment methods will remain in pending status until you have completed the necessary steps to complete the bank request. Your TritonPay balance will not update until funds are received.

If you do not complete the transaction with your bank within 48 hours, it may be cancelled.  Your international payment transaction will show a “Void” status after 12 days.

If you are attempting to make a payment from outside of the U.S., you may need to use a VPN.
