Education Expense Verification for Non-US Governments

Review this KBA to learn about the foreign education expense verification process.

Verifying Your Educational Expenses for your Home Government

Foreign students will sometimes request UCSD to sign an education expense form for their specific country. The most common country represented on these requests is Canada.

Please email to submit a verification request and attach your country’s requisite taxation form(s).

For Canadian students, please attach the TL11A certificate when submitting your verification request.

Your verification request will be sent to the UCSD Office of the Registrar. Please allow 3 business days for a response from their office.

Note: The 1098-T form is solely provided to help you determine your eligibility of the Education Tax Credits. UC San Diego is unable to provide individual income tax advice. If you have specific questions on how the 1098-T form affects your tax responsibility please contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or your personal tax advisor regarding your eligibility or the calculation of these tax benefits.
