Financial Aid Inquiries

Overview

While most financial aid inquiries should be directed at the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office, Student Financial Solutions can provide general information about some financial aid topics.

Types of Financial Aid Inquiries

Pending Financial Aid

Before the quarter begins, students who receive financial aid will have the funds appear on their account. Depending on the timing, these funds will first show as “Pending.” This means that the funds are incoming, but have not disbursed to the account and been applied to open fees as of yet.

Disbursement of Aid

When financial aid disburses to accounts, the student will see separate line item of transactions, with the disbursement amounts under the “Payments/Credits” column. Funds will apply to past due charges first. If there are none, the funds will apply in the following order: tuition and registration fees, housing, and then miscellaneous items. If the student is enrolled in TRIP, the aid will apply in order of when the transactions are due.

Awarding of Aid

Students are awarded aid by the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, depending on your eligibility determined by your FAFSA or CA Dream Act applications. For inquiries on how aid is awarded, please contact the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office at (858) 534-4480 or via email at finaid@ucsd.edu.

Revision of Aid

If there have been changes to your award disbursements, please contact the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office at (858) 534-4480 or via email at finaid@ucsd.edu.
