Overview

By default, tuition and registration charges are billed every quarter for the academic year.  This means that tuition will be due at the start of each quarter (Fall – September, Winter – December, Spring – March).  If you require more time to make a payment, you may enroll in TRIP, or the Tuition Registration Installment Plan.  TRIP divides up the tuition and mandatory registration fees into three monthly installments for each quarter (or two months, if enrolled late). 

• For two monthly installments - The last day to enroll is the second billing month due date for each quarter, to pay in two monthly installments. Installments will be spread evenly across two months.

Critical Concepts

• There is a $40 non-refundable fee for each quarter that TRIP is active. This fee is due, up front when signing up for TRIP.

• If you miss a TRIP due date, you may be cancelled from your classes and/or a hold may be placed on your account.

• FOR HOUSING: TRIP will only apply to tuition and registration fees. To make adjustments to the housing installment payment plan (i.e. change from quarterly to monthly payments), please visit the Housing Portal and fill out a "Housing Installment Payment Plan Change Request." 

• TRIP is not available for students that receive enough Financial Aid to pay for the entire tuition.

• The student must not have any holds prior to enrolling in TRIP. 

• If you have a past due balance, you may not enroll in TRIP.

• You must sign up for TRIP every quarter that the payment plan is needed. 

• You can only sign up for TRIP after your tuition and registration fees have been billed to your account.  

Steps to Take

Student

1. Visit tritonpay.ucsd.edu, click on "Student Login," and log in with your SSO.  
2. Click on "Payment Plans" on the left side navigation. 
3. Click on "View Payment Plan Options."
4. Review the payment plan breakdown and due dates. 
5. Click "Enroll in Plan." 
6. Review "Terms and Conditions," and enter in your PID. 
7. Pay $40 enrollment fee. 

Authorized Payer

1. Visit tritonpay.ucsd.edu, click on "Authorized Payer Login," and log in with your authorized payer username and password.   
2. Click on "Payment Plans" on the left side navigation. 
3. Click on "View Payment Plan Options."
4. Review the payment plan breakdown and due dates. 
5. Click "Enroll in Plan." 
6. Review "Terms and Conditions," and enter in your PID. 
7. Pay $40 enrollment fee. 

PLEASE NOTE: The billing statement will show the full tuition and registration amount due. Students will see the following message on their billing statement: 

 

Once they visit their Overview page, they will see their current TRIP installment amount due and their future installment:
