How to Dispute or Appeal Library Charges

Overview

If you believe a library charge on your student account is incorrect, you may submit a formal appeal. The Library reviews these requests on a case-by-case basis to ensure fairness.

Critical Concepts

Steps to Submit an Appeal

  1. Review the Fine: Check the Library Fines and Fees page to understand the standard rates for overdue or lost items.
  2. Gather Information: Have your 14-digit library barcode (found on the back of your UC San Diego ID card or library card) and the titles of the items you are appealing ready.
  3. Submit the Form: Complete the Library Billing Appeal Form.
    • Note: Provide as much detail as possible in the "Reason" section to help the committee understand your situation.

If you still have questions, please contact the Library by emailing LibraryBilling@ucsd.edu or calling (858) 534-0134.
