Students here at UCSD can receive charges to their student account from the university's Bookstore for general retail goods sold at the Bookstore or for course-specific materials offered through the Inclusive Access Program. This article is to help you identify what kind of charge you may have on your student account as well as provide resources if you need further support.
When a student wants to purchase retail goods found at the Bookstore (school supplies, university merchandise, books, etc.) they have an option to charge their purchases to their student account. When that happens, a student is likely to see a charge appear on their account for "UCSD Bookstore". The charge will show on a student's TritonPay categorized as "Campus Purchases/Other", which can be paid for using the following payment methods.
As a part of the university's objective to reduce the cost of course materials, improve educational outcomes for students, and increase sustainability for course materials, students are able to have access to these digital course materials through the Inclusive Access Program (for further reading, please visit their page). If a student's instructor chooses to have a course as part of the university's Inclusive Access Program, students taking that course are eligible to access those digital materials for free from the first day of instruction until the term's course add/drop date.
If a student does not opt-out of these course materials before the course add/drop date for the term passes, they will be charged for the course materials to their student account later in the term. For example, students during the academic year will need to opt-out before the end of Week 2 of the quarter if they do not wish to be charged for these digital course materials. Otherwise, those students can expect a "Course Materials Central Chg" on their account by Week 6 of the quarter. The charge, same as UCSD Bookstore charges, will show on a student's TritonPay categorized as "Campus Purchases/Other".
