California Higher Education Student Housing Grant

Overview

The California Higher Education Student Housing Grant is designed to assist UC San Diego’s undergraduate students with significant financial need who live on campus. Recipients of the grant will pay a reduced housing rate of $832.00 per month for the 2024-25 academic year.

General

How Were Students Chosen for the Grant?

In partnership with the Housing Office, the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office identified students with financial need who were eligible for this grant. The selection process included a review of several factors from financial aid applications, such as residency, Student Aid Index, dependency status, student loan debt, and eligibility for federal, state, and institutional grants, among others.

How Will the Grant be Reflected on my Billing Statement?

A credit will be applied each quarter to your housing charges.

What if You Change Your Room?

If you change rooms that result in higher costs (e.g., moving from a triple to a single room), you will be responsible for paying the difference.

What Happens if You Terminate Your Housing Contract?

If you terminate your housing contract, the grant will be prorated based on your approved contract end date and will only cover the prorated on campus housing expenses.
