Overview
When you "book" an international payment in TritonPay, it will appear as Pending until the funds are fully received by the University.
The International Payment Timeline
International transfers do not happen instantly. Here is the typical flow:
- Booking: You initiate the payment in TritonPay. (Status: Pending)
- Instruction: You receive a set of instructions from your chosen provider (Convera, Flywire, or TransferMate).
- Transfer: You must follow those instructions to send the funds from your local bank.
- Processing: The funds travel through the banking system (this typically takes 5–7 business days).
- Completion: Once UC San Diego receives the funds, your status updates. (Status: Complete)
Why is my payment still pending?
If your payment has been pending for more than 7 business days, it is likely due to one of the following:
- Bank Delay: Your local bank may still be processing the outgoing wire transfer.
- Verification: The payment processor may be verifying the source of funds.
- Holiday Schedule: Bank holidays in your home country or the U.S. can add extra days to the timeline.
Need Help?
