Overview
If you are expecting Financial Aid but do not see it on your account, it may be in "Pending" status or there may be a missing requirement in your file.
What is "Pending Aid"?
UC San Diego assesses fees approximately 30 days before the quarterly due date. During the time between fee assessment and the actual payout of your aid, your funds are reflected as Pending Aid.
- You are not required to pay the portion of your bill covered by pending aid.
- TritonPay will automatically calculate your balance and only ask you to pay the remaining amount after aid is applied.
Common Reasons Aid is Missing
If you do not see any aid—or if the amount is lower than expected—check the following:
- Enrollment Units: Most aid requires a minimum of 10 or 12 units.
- Important: Waitlisted classes do not count toward your unit total. You will not see your full aid until you are officially enrolled in the class.
- Missing Documentation: Check your email for notifications from the Financial Aid office. You can also view required forms on the Financial Aid Forms and Resources page.
- Late Packaging: If you recently submitted documents, it can take up to 10 business days for your package to be finalized and appear in TritonPay.
Next Steps
If you have confirmed your units and submitted all documents, but your aid is still missing:
- Contact Financial Aid: Speak with a counselor via the Financial Aid Inquiry Portal.
- Submit a Ticket: If you need further assistance from Student Financial Solutions regarding your bill, submit a support ticket.
